Paganello World Beach Ultimate Cup in Rimini

By nadzeya, April 14, 2010 11:14 am

I knew before coming to Rimini, that the city is well known for its events and festivals. Rimini attracts ever-increasing interest from tourists around the globe to visit the city with its particular food and drinks, sport events, as well as concerts. In fact, during my Easter break, I was able to attend Rimini’ international frisbee contest - Paganello World Beach Ultimate Cup. Never been to the sport event of this kind, and unexpectedly it was amazing- great sun, some wind and nice Easter’ mood!

And here are the winners:

open champions: Los Tiger (USA), spirit: Ghosts Missing (Germany)
women’s champions: Super Hot Pot (International), spirit: Copenhagen (Denmark)
mixed champions: ÄssäMix (Finland), spirit: The Clan (UK)
juniors Bollywood Swing Kings (Belgium), spirit: Mighty Hucks (UK)

Could be great to come back to Rimini next year, and become the frisbee fan again.

105 Stadium Rimini

By vera, December 30, 2009 5:39 pm
Rimini seems to be a city in which events are taking place all over the year. The major ones often take place in the 105 Stadium (Piazzale Pasolini 1/c) which hosts shows, sports and conventions for up to 7000 persons. Upcoming shows are for example”Holiday on Ice” which will take place from 14 to 17 January 2010. If you are a fan of musical your can enjoy “Grease”  also in January and an Italian version of “Cats” in March.

Tango into the 2010 New Year

By greg, December 10, 2009 2:15 pm

If you’re lucky enough to be in Rimini around New Years, and appreciate dance, then be sure to look into Tango Fusion, Rimini’s massive Tango festival being held from December 30th until January 3rd.  The festival features live performances, music, dancing, and also tango classes, and is held at the Palazzo dei Congressi di Bellaria in Rimini. There are a variety of dancing lessons and signup plans, ranging from 5 hours of lessons for 65 euros, to 22 hours of lessons for 230 euros.

The website also offers package plans for accomodation, access and lessons for those who are really serious about their tango. For everybody else, they can check out some of the performances on the program on the link below; keep in mind a lot of the activities are late in the evening.

And if you’re thinking of going; do remember the old saying: “It takes two to tango.” So bring a partner!

New Year’s Eve in Rimini

By theresa, December 6, 2009 7:05 pm

After seeing the New Year offer of the Hotel Nobel, I am really considering to make a short trip and spend New Year in Rimini. Therefore I was trying to find out more about what to do and where to celebrate this very special night. I came across an interesting website, I would like to share with you:

“www.capodannoarimini.net” (click here for the translated version) promotes an offer which allows you to move from one bar or club to another, giving you the possibility to party in different locations. By purchasing a special wrist-pass you are entitled to use a free shuttle service which connects the city centre, the harbour and the waterfront.

Furthermore you get free or reduced entrance to participating bars and clubs. Unfortunately the exact programme and the prices for 2009/10 are not out yet, but you can still have a look at the website to find out more about last year’s offer and to keep up with this year’s event.

For me opera is part of the Italian culture and history. While travelling in Italy, seeing an opera can be a great experience. If you want to start the new year with an opera, you should go to Rimini as it is the only city in Italy performing an opera at that time.

On the programme for 2010 is “Tosca”, the famous opera by Giacomo Puccini. It will take place on 1st and 3rd January 2010. As the show is in Italian, I think it is helpful to get familiar with the plot in advance. Click here for a plot summary in English.

Ciocco Rimini: Rimini’s Chocolate Festival

By greg, November 24, 2009 1:48 pm

This upcoming weekend in Rimini holds something special in store for chocolate lovers: ciocco rimini, a chocolate festival lasting from this weekend from the  27th to 29th of November in Rimini’s Piazza Tre Martiri. The festival features chocolate sculpture making, making chocolate, and learning how to taste chocolate. I’m sure there will be some great chocolate vendors present too, but the event’s activities are free to participate in.  The festival has special events for kids called choco-games, as well as live music and entertainment. It should be a fun (and tasty) one for all to enjoy.

Lucincittà

By tudor, November 20, 2009 2:00 am
Christmas time is nigh in Fellini’s hometown. It all begins on November 25 with the Lucincittà - a local celebration in Emilia Romagna region .  Rimini will be illuminated by 30 kilometers of light bulbs that make the city more beautiful and evocative.

Until 7 January 2010 you can visit the historical center or Rimini and watch a breathtaking visual display. And then the Christmas festival in Rimini will continue with shows, events of all kinds, flea markets where you can buy your Christmas gifts and enjoy a glass of hot wine. And yet so much more. Its a pity that most tourists noramlly miss out on one of the greatest times of year to be in Rimini, which really is more of a year round destination than most people think!

When I read about the ” Festa del Pane, dell’ Olio e del Vino”, taking place on Sunday, 22 November in the historic centre of Rimini (Piazza Cavour), I almost regret that I will go there this weekend and not next one. The festival celebrates traditional products of the Romagna, the region Rimini is located in, and reading the description really makes me want to go there to try bread, olive oil and vine. Especially the regions reknowned ‘piadina’ bread sounds delicious and worth a try.

If you would like to find out more about the festival and the programme, you can do so on the Italian version of the website of RiminiTourismo.
