Different countries have different Christmas traditions- one of them is the design of the nativity scene. Are you curious how other cultures design it? How it is different from your own tradition? An exhibition in Rimini currently shows numerous representations of the Holy Nativity from different countries such as Peru, Moldavia and various countries from Africa etc.
It is organized by Caritas and migrants of Rimini and tourists are very welcome to see the exhibiton for free until 6 January 2010 in “Palazzo del Podesta” at Piazza Cavour. The opening hours are during the week from 9.30 until 12.30 and from 15.30 until 19.00. Whereas on the weekends the exhibiton is open from 15.00 until 19.00. “No Panic Gallery” in Rimini

By vera, December 3, 2009 3:50 pm

Strolling through the streets of Rimini´s old town you will pass a lot of small shops, restaurants and… some art galleries. One of these small art galleries is entitled the “No panic gallery” which is situated in Via Bertola 82 about 5 minutes by foot from the Cathedral (Duomo). It was opened in 2007 by Chico De Luigi who is a famous photographer for Italian and other European magazines. To see the collection of photographs which includes some snapshots of Rimini please click here.

For me opera is part of the Italian culture and history. While travelling in Italy, seeing an opera can be a great experience. If you want to start the new year with an opera, you should go to Rimini as it is the only city in Italy performing an opera at that time.

On the programme for 2010 is “Tosca”, the famous opera by Giacomo Puccini. It will take place on 1st and 3rd January 2010. As the show is in Italian, I think it is helpful to get familiar with the plot in advance. Click here for a plot summary in English.

Museum of Regards

By sarah, November 30, 2009 7:55 pm

Today I experienced a website of an interesting museum and I decided to tell you something about it. It is a website about the Museum of regards in Rimini where you can experiece different cultures. The exposition is in the Villa Alvarado and  is about artistical an ethnographical things from Africa, Asia, Oceanic and pre-Columbian America. A big part of this whole collection is the result of the sustainable travelling of one man, Delfino Dinz Rialto. He is a venetian admirer of these places. But he is not the only collector, due to many collectors, visitors have the possibility to admire these works from cultural and social value. They have their origin far away from our western culture. This Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and costs about 2 € per adults and only 1 € with reduction. On Sunday there is a free entrance.

CultCard

By theresa, November 11, 2009 11:04 am

For those of you, who do not only come to Rimini because of its beaches but also because of the town’s cultural life, the CultCard might be just the right offer. It is a card for young people under the age of 29 and its owner receives special concessions for various cultural events in Rimini and its surrounding. These concession include, for example, reductions for the entrance fees of museums and of the Parco Oltremare in Riccione. Furthermore discounts are granted on ticket prices of concerts organised by the Department of Culture.

The CultCard costs only 7 Euros, which makes it a real bargain. It is valid one year and can be purchased at the Teatro Ermete Novelli in Via Cappellini 3.

For further information on the card and on events, visit the website of the Comune di Rimini:
