Paganello World Beach Ultimate Cup in Rimini

By nadzeya, April 14, 2010 11:14 am

I knew before coming to Rimini, that the city is well known for its events and festivals. Rimini attracts ever-increasing interest from tourists around the globe to visit the city with its particular food and drinks, sport events, as well as concerts. In fact, during my Easter break, I was able to attend Rimini’ international frisbee contest - Paganello World Beach Ultimate Cup. Never been to the sport event of this kind, and unexpectedly it was amazing- great sun, some wind and nice Easter’ mood!

And here are the winners:

open champions: Los Tiger (USA), spirit: Ghosts Missing (Germany)
women’s champions: Super Hot Pot (International), spirit: Copenhagen (Denmark)
mixed champions: ÄssäMix (Finland), spirit: The Clan (UK)
juniors Bollywood Swing Kings (Belgium), spirit: Mighty Hucks (UK)

Could be great to come back to Rimini next year, and become the frisbee fan again.

Shell Museum Rimini

By theresa, December 28, 2009 12:22 am

Are you already planning your next summer holiday in Rimini or elsewhere on the Adriatic Sea? Do you enjoy seaside activities such as bathing, fishing and collecting shells on the beach? Then you might be interested in one of Rimini’s smaller museums: The Shell Museum. Besides around 8000 beautiful shells, the museum presents various exhibits connected to seafaring, fishing and beach life from different decades. Visitors can even admire an old, wooden life guard’s boat.

Biking in Rimini

By vera, December 21, 2009 8:14 pm

When I went to Rimini one month ago, I was very surprised how many bikers I could see both in the old town and along the seaside. After I came back I did some research and found out that the city provides several cycling routes which allow nice bike-rides through Rimini and the Emilia-Romagna region. Actually, you can find about 30 km of bike paths within Rimini and the Marina di Rimini. In case you want to do sporty activities during your holiday, this is an optimal way to connect sight-seeing with sports.

The following link of the tourist office provides several tours- you can choose for example between a “panoramic tour” or the “cuckold´s tour”. Please click here.

Summer and winter in Rimini

By vera, December 17, 2009 10:51 am

If you are planning a trip to Rimini for the next summer you can expect temperatures from 25 to 28 degrees. If you prefer to travel when the temperature is a little lower I can recommend to go in the first September week. I once went in that time to Rimini and it was warm enough to enjoy the beach and long nights out.
If you are going to Rimini in the current period, the average temperature shouldn´t drop under 0 degrees. Unfortunately, these days the cold has also reached the Emilia-Romagna region as the temperature in the last days was around -1 degree. Brrr….

Happiness is $10 tee!

By tudor, December 16, 2009 11:32 pm

When I first told my friend I was going to Rimini this autumn, the first thing he told me was “Don’t forget to go to this store, where I bought a lot of t-shirts from”. He was actually referring to the shop called “Happiness is a $10 tee” – a concept store that first appeared in Rimini back in 1984 , and now has opened up in a series of other locations.

The owner, Michael Scapellini says that the idea came from “[...] the desire for happiness , the desire to escape from any store and not be angry for having spent too much on a beautiful t-shirt”. Their plan is simple, to sell comfortable, quality t-shirts with different and original prints. For example, you can find prints of the myths of all time, from music ( the Beatles, the Sex Pistols) to sport and fashion (Marylin Monroe, Kate Moss) and have to pay little “because nobody has to leave frustrated from the store”.

You can find more information about this brand on their website http://www.mycloset.it/ . But I recommend you should pay a visit to their  store – in Rimini Piazza Agabiti 7 -

Venice baby !

By tudor, December 14, 2009 11:46 pm

This summer I’ve been touring Italy for two weeks, and after visiting Rimini , my next stop was Venice, where I spent a day visiting around the city and taking pictures. I have to say that if you plan a one-day trip around the city of Rimini, Venice can be a wonderful choice, but it will also an exhausting experience. Venice is arguably the one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world, and for good reason. Its an enchanting city that can only be experienced live and in person. Its also one of those places that can be quite exhausting to see, so a one day excursion and back to the charm and relaxation in Rimini can be a great idea.

I advise you to take the train from Rimini Centrale - the trip will take between 3.5 h and 4h - depending upon the trains you take. Be careful to choose trains that do not require a change at Bologna, and if you can’t find any direct ones, make sure you allow yourself enough time to make the connection. Also, the price of the ticket can variate. I have paid 20 euros for a return ticket.

If you can wake up in the morning and leave Rimini at 7.00 am , you will be in Venice at 11.00 am and have enough time to travel around the city and get back by the evening.

Italy is a popular touristic destination. The variation of attractive cities, the sunny weather and the great Italian food make the country also ideal for backpacking. If you want to make a stop at the Adriatic Sea to enjoy some party and beach life, Rimini is offering besides more than 1000 hotels also a bunch of backpacking hostels. When I checked their offer I was surprised of the services they provide for example WiFi, bikes for rent and guest kitchen for free. I think to stay in a hostel is a great opportunity to meet other people from all over the world and enjoy a great time in Rimini.

I guess all of you who are interested in Rimini as a holiday destination or have already visited the city as a tourist, know about  “Italia in Miniatura”. But did you know that the miniature theme park, which gives you the opportunity to explore Italy’s most famous sights in only one day, is opened during the Christmas holidays as well? Except for Christmas Day (25 December) the park is opened from 9am to dust around 4.30pm. The entrance fee in winter is reduced since the special attractions are closed. Nevertheless the park is worth a visit and can be reached easily, coming from Rimini, with the bus number eight or by car.

Different countries have different Christmas traditions- one of them is the design of the nativity scene. Are you curious how other cultures design it? How it is different from your own tradition? An exhibition in Rimini currently shows numerous representations of the Holy Nativity from different countries such as Peru, Moldavia and various countries from Africa etc.
It is organized by Caritas and migrants of Rimini and tourists are very welcome to see the exhibiton for free until 6 January 2010 in “Palazzo del Podesta” at Piazza Cavour. The opening hours are during the week from 9.30 until 12.30 and from 15.30 until 19.00. Whereas on the weekends the exhibiton is open from 15.00 until 19.00.
